Charlie Baileygates is a man who embodies kindness and patience. A police officer in Rhode Island, he leads a simple and devoted life, always acting with courtesy, respect, and a good dose of naivety. He is a single father who has lovingly and diligently raised three African American children, the result of his ex-wife’s infidelity. Although everyone around him knows the children are not biologically his, Charlie never questions his role as a father and fully commits to raising them.

For years, Charlie has been the target of mockery, abuse, and humiliation by those who see him as weak or overly compliant. His kind personality and refusal to confront conflict make him an easy figure to manipulate. However, this constant emotional repression comes at a price. Unable to endure the injustices and accumulated pressure any longer, Charlie suffers an unexpected psychological breakdown, giving rise to a violent and uninhibited alter ego: Hank.

Hank is the complete opposite of Charlie. Where Charlie is patient, Hank is impulsive. Where Charlie avoids conflict, Hank seeks it without hesitation. This alternate personality represents everything Charlie has repressed for years: anger, frustration, a desire for revenge, and a boldly uninhibited attitude. The result is a delirious comedy in which one body houses two opposing identities competing for control.
