It has been five years since Hiccup and Toothless succeeded in uniting the dragons and vikings of Berk. Since then, their lives have been dedicated to exploring unknown territories, expanding their horizons beyond the known borders. The peace in their home has been maintained, but their adventurous spirit drives them to embark on new journeys that bring them even closer to the heart of the mystery surrounding the world of dragons.

During one of these expeditions, Hiccup and Toothless discover a secret cave that holds a surprising secret: a vast sanctuary of wild dragons that have remained hidden for generations. But the most astonishing discovery of all is the revelation of a dragon rider, a mysterious figure who turns out to be Valka, Hiccup's mother, who had disappeared when he was just a child.
