Harrison, a charming architect from Los Angeles known for his skills both in the kitchen and in love, gets engaged to Cate, a landscape architect from San Francisco, after meeting while working together on a major project. During an intervention in a stuck elevator, they develop a connection that leads to the engagement. Cate moves to Los Angeles to be with him, and while Harrison is in Tokyo for work, she decides to take care of Evelyn, Harrison's widowed mother, who still plays a significant role in his life. However, Cate begins to feel insecure and paranoid after hearing rumors about the mysterious disappearance of Harrison’s ex-girlfriend years ago, which leads her to cancel the engagement. Eventually, the truth comes to light, clearing up Harrison's situation and revealing an unexpected danger.
