Four years have passed since the devastating tragedy that shook Chicago, an event that left humanity struggling with the aftermath and rebuilding a world scarred by destruction. In this new landscape, both the Autobots and the Decepticons—the iconic robotic forces that once dominated the conflict—have mysteriously vanished from Earth. However, the advanced technology they left behind has not been forgotten; instead, it has been recovered and utilized by the United States government for an ambitious project: to create their own Transformers.
Leading this initiative is Joshua Joyce, a brilliant but arrogant designer who dismisses the Autobots’ achievements as “technological junk.” Convinced he can surpass any previous creation, Joyce aims to develop robots that are far more sophisticated and efficient, with the goal of positioning the United States at the forefront of a new technological and military era. This approach, rooted in extreme confidence in human engineering, starkly contrasts with the history of coexistence and battles between the original Transformers.
Amid this climate of innovation and tension, Cade Yeager, a mechanic and inventor with a special talent for complex devices, makes an unexpected discovery. While working, he comes across an abandoned Marmon semi-trailer and decides to repair it. However, what initially appears to be an ordinary vehicle is actually something far more extraordinary: the truck is none other than Optimus Prime, the legendary leader of the Autobots.
