Doug MacRay, an experienced thief, has spent years perfecting his craft with his crew, but unlike his teammates, he is looking for a way out of the crime world. However, his chance of escape seems increasingly distant until a bank robbery leads his group to kidnap an attractive and charismatic branch manager. Doug takes on the responsibility of keeping an eye on her, and as their relationship develops, it begins to threaten his plan of retirement.
As Doug and the kidnapped woman grow closer, the risk of their identities being uncovered by the FBI agent investigating them grows as well. While he struggles to maintain his facade and avoid incrimination, the pressure mounts with the FBI agent on their tail. The growing bond between Doug and the manager, which becomes more complicated as time passes, threatens to expose secrets and put both his freedom and life in jeopardy.
The story not only explores the tensions of a thief seeking redemption and a life outside of crime, but also Doug's internal conflict, torn between his desire to leave the criminal world behind and his attraction to a woman who could either be the key to his liberation or his downfall. As events unfold, the decisions he makes could seal his fate as he faces increasing pressure from the FBI and the emotional connections starting to form in his personal life.
