In the family comedy Playing with Fire, the always upright and disciplined fire superintendent Jake Carson, played by John Cena, finds himself in a situation completely out of the ordinary. Accustomed to facing wildfires with precision and courage alongside his elite team — portrayed by Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, and Tyler Mane — Jake believes he has seen it all in his career. However, nothing could have prepared him for the most challenging mission of his life: taking care of three mischievous and completely unpredictable children.
It all begins when Jake and his team rescue three siblings — played by Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery, and Finley Rose Slater — during a dangerous forest fire. What initially seems like just another rescue quickly turns into an unexpected adventure when they discover they can’t locate the children’s parents. With no immediate alternative, the firefighters are forced to become their temporary caretakers.
What follows is a series of chaotic, funny, and heartwarming situations, where the strict protocols of the rescue team are overwhelmed by the energy, disorder, and unpredictability of childhood. The fire station, once perfectly organized, is transformed into a scene of games, mischief, and total chaos. Jake, used to being in complete control, must now face not only the challenges that come with the kids, but also his own emotions and the possibility of opening up his heart.
