After the success of the 2003 film Bruce Almighty, its long-awaited sequel Evan Almighty arrives—a comedy that blends political satire, family values, and a modern reflection on faith. In this installment, Steve Carell plays Evan Baxter, the former news anchor we met in the first movie. Now, his life takes an unexpected turn when he is elected as a United States congressman. Together with his wife (played by Lauren Graham) and their three sons, he moves from Buffalo to Washington, D.C., determined to fulfill his campaign promise: to change the world.
This life change not only involves a move and new political responsibilities but also a surprising encounter with the divine. On his first day in his new home, Evan offers a simple prayer, asking for help in making a positive difference. What he doesn’t expect is that his prayer will be answered—by none other than God himself, once again portrayed by Morgan Freeman.
God assigns Evan a task that is as absurd as it is biblical: to build an ark, just like Noah. At first, Evan resists, thinking it’s an outlandish test of faith. But little by little, he begins to experience signs he can’t ignore. Animals of all species begin to follow him, his appearance changes—including a thick beard he can’t shave—and a series of increasingly bizarre events force him to reconsider his purpose in Congress and in life.
