In a future where humanity has begun to adapt to a fully artificial environment, the human body becomes the new frontier of experimentation. The boundaries between the biological and the technological blur, giving rise to new forms of existence, beauty, and transgression. Within this landscape, renowned performance artist Saul Tenser (played by Viggo Mortensen) finds himself at the center of a disturbing phenomenon: his body begins to develop new organs—mutations that challenge not only medical science but the very concept of what it means to be human.
Alongside his partner and artistic collaborator Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul transforms his internal metamorphosis into a radical aesthetic experience. His performances, which showcase the real-time extraction and modification of these organs, are presented as provocative works of art that captivate both the curious and the devoted followers of extreme performance. For them, the body is no longer a boundary, but a mutable canvas.
Saul’s work does not go unnoticed. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator for the National Organ Registry, becomes obsessed with his performances. Her role is to monitor these mutations, catalog the new organs, and understand the implications of this accelerated evolution. Yet, as she delves deeper into Saul’s world, she begins to question the line between institutional control and artistic freedom, between what is considered normal and what is deemed monstrous.
