Beside Still Waters
The death of parents is an event that profoundly marks anyone’s life. In the case of a young person facing the loss of both parents, the pain is mixed with confusion and the need to find a way to heal. In this process, the figure of the parents, once central to their existence, becomes an omnipresent shadow that not only confronts them with physical absence but also with the search for answers about their own path in life. This is the story of a young person who, while trying to overcome grief, finds themselves trapped in a cycle of memories and intense emotions, struggling to find inner peace.
The protagonist is at a stage in their life where they have not yet fully matured, and the loss of their parents places them at a crucial turning point. Death, far from being a closure, becomes a crack that exposes all the unresolved fears and desires of the young person. Sadness becomes their constant companion, but what truly torments them is the inability to find a sense of closure or reconciliation with the departure of those who gave them life.
In their struggle to overcome the tragedy, the young person goes through different emotional stages, from anger and despair to acceptance and resignation. However, the path to healing is neither straight nor easy. Emotions mix with memories, and every object, place, and person around them seems to remind them of their parents' absence. Life moves on, but they feel stuck in a past they don't know how to let go of.
Throughout the story, the young person begins to understand that true peace does not come with forgetting or trying to erase the pain, but with accepting the loss as part of the natural process of life. This process leads them to reevaluate their relationship with memories and find ways to honor their parents without clinging to their absence destructively. Ultimately, although total closure is not always attainable, the young person discovers that the meaning of life is not only found in the presence of loved ones but also in the ability to move forward, learning to live with the pain and grow from it.
