2073
Inspired by Chris Marker's iconic 1962 short film La Jetée, the story is set in the year 2073, a not-so-distant future that immerses us in a dystopian world marked by a bleak landscape of absolute control. The narrative takes place in New San Francisco, a city devastated by a system that, through technology, has managed to eradicate both democracy and personal freedoms.
New San Francisco in 2073 is a reflection of the most advanced oppression, an environment where technology has not only advanced to unimaginable levels but has also become the primary tool for surveillance and control. In this world, the population lives under the constant threat of an omnipresent police state that has annihilated all forms of dissent. The streets of the city are governed by metal, concrete, and screens, which not only serve to monitor every movement of its inhabitants but also ensure that no one dares to challenge the regime.
The system has managed to erase individual freedom, imposing an unbreakable routine on the citizens. Personalization, free thinking, and autonomy have become almost forgotten concepts. Human rights, once basic, are now relics of the past, and the very notion of democracy has been reduced to a distant echo, like a fantasy that no longer has a place in this new era.
In this desolate scenario, memories and history have become tools of resistance, a means of preserving the identity of those who still dare to question the established order. However, the system has perfected a way to manipulate even the deepest memories, turning the past itself into something malleable and controllable.
